K9 Unit Management
(SAR)
This is a management level
course and is directed at those individuals responsible for the overall
management of a search and rescue K9 organization. Topics include: forming a
unit, writing a constitution and by-laws, non profit status, selecting
handlers, conducting background investigations, selecting dogs, mandatory
instruction and training, leadership principles and team building techniques,
directing training programs (trailing, air scent, water, cadaver, canine first
aid), grant writing and developing unit search reports and training logs. The
course length can be customize for the groups needs, and lasts to two or three days.
