Urban
Trailing
This 16 hour block of
instruction exposes the canine and handler to the specialty of trailing in an
urban environment. Dogs attending this instruction should already be experienced
with following human scent. Canines and their handlers will be taught proper
scent article collection and preservation, reading the canine’s body language,
working city intersections, dealing with heavy contamination, working alleys,
business and residential districts and safely dealing with vehicle and
pedestrian traffic. Safety issues concerning the city environment will also be
discussed. All dogs must be highly visible through some sort of light apparatus at night and must trail on harness and
lead for
their safety. Practical scenarios include
both day and night activities.
